 I found Mike working out at a local gym.  I had lost 6 pounds in 6 weeks and was working towards a goal of losing 30-40 pounds within the next 2 months.  Having hit a plateau on my own, I decided to start training with Mike two times a week in hopes it would push my weight loss to another level. Let me start by saying that having Mike as a trainer changed my life for the better! About 4 years ago I was 50lbs overweight and was extremely unhappy with myself. I struggled for years to lose weight, trying one fad diet after another and always gaining the weight back. From time to time I'd go to the gym and do some cardio but I had no idea what I was doing when it came to fitness or working out so I would always get discouraged and give up on going to the gym. When I met Mike, I had been serious about my weight loss for about 6 months and had lost about 20lbs already by doing about 2 hours of cardio per day and by eating healthier. However, after that first 20lbs I had hit a plateau and couldn't lose a single pound for months no matter how much cardio I did or how healthy I ate. Little did I know, the problem was  that I was not incorporating weight training. I was one of those girls who naively believed that if I lifted weights I'd get too 'bulky,' and at that point I had the mindset that I just wanted to 'get skinny' (I look back at that mindset now and want to roll my eyes at my younger, uninformed self). So finally I decided to admit that I didn't know what I was doing and that I needed help, so I signed up for personal training with Mike. I won't lie, I hated the workouts in the beginning... because they were HARD! It wasn't like the mindless cardio I had been doing where I'd just sit on the bike or the treadmill for 2 hours and watch TV. We did HIIT training and Circuit Training. He had me lifting weights, doing box jumps, running drill and all in all just pushing me to my limit and out of my comfort zone. And slowly but surely, I began to LOVE IT! I loved the changes in my body! The first time I noticed I was toning down enough to start seeing definition in my biceps was a life changing moment! Through training with Mike, I fell in love with results, as well as the process, so much so that I ended up going to school and becoming a personal trainer myself! Because of his help and guidance, I ended up pushing myself to my limits and losing those remaining stubborn 30lbs. If it hadn't been for Mike's help getting me onto the right path, I wouldn't be where I am today!

Thanks to Mike, my workouts are no longer boring and I have great results and performance from the high rep pyramid program he taught me. All my workouts are now more challenging and fun. You can switch between starting from the top or bottom of pyramid. This has been the best program by far for building great stamina, strength, and muscle. This program has given me the best results out of all the programs I have tried. The old traditional low rep pyramid is great for fast rapid strength but you will also lose it fast if you take a short vacation or break from the gym. I've noticed that with Mike's program, I can go on a 3 week vacation without hitting the gym and go back lifting almost the same or only losing very minimal.

Before working with mike, I was motivated to go to the gym, but was overwhelmed with where to start on my fitness journey. I regulated myself to the elliptical machines and simple machines I felt comfortable with. He helped me set attainable goals, venture out beyond my comfort zone with valuable training tips, and I eventually became stronger and healthier. He is extremely knowledgeable about his craft which was perfect for me as I am a "why" person. Really enjoyed working with Mike. We started with a complete plan; a workout I would do on my own 3X a week, a diet plan with simple calorie and protein targets and some core exercises that Mike supervised 2X a week.  That was the best – got my heart rate up doing different things like planks, pulleys, balance balls and other drills.  Mike is like a velvet hammer, gentle motivation to keep you going to get your best outcome.  If you are serious about getting results - I highly recommend working with Mike!

Mike's program, his personal adapted pyramid program, had me progressing far beyond what I thought possible, lifting weights in weeks, that I had not put on the goal list for the year! I came to Mike with severe rotator cuff issues and a neurological condition that limited my range of motion in my left arm due lack of muscle response/control. Taking those concerns into account he stepped back, as is his nature, and took a holistic approach to my total fitness and health - cardio (ick), strength, nutrition- 'only way to be healthy Dave', he often echoed.

Results? Weight loss, shoulder strength, increased range of motion and savings on physical therapy as my therapist was amazed at my progress. I have trained and known mike for approximately 3 years and during this time I have had goals such as dresses I needed to fit within a certain amount of time or an area of my body that I took special interest in, Mike would tailor my training in order to meet these goals ( meaning he would focus on the area that needed to be trimmed down or sculpted).  He is an active participant in his group training sessions which always makes it challenging and fun.  He also provides meal plans that can be tailored to your fit lifestyle.

I had the privilege of been instructed by Mike for couple of months and was quite impressed with his knowledge and work ethics. He is unique, in his ability to teach you how to work on specific muscle and the right techniques to use.

He was also my muay Thai instructor and it was never a boring session. He made it fun and with his knowledge of the right techniques, i usually finished feeling satisfied with the fun activities and that my whole body was involved.
